Sarina Bains, MD, FACS, is a fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group. She is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and in endocrine neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided thyroid biopsy by the American Thyroid Association. Dr. Bains specializes in the comprehensive, personalized surgical treatment of patients with disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. She manages routine surveillance of thyroid nodules, performs thyroid biopsies as well as surgical treatments for Graves’ disease, multinodular goiters, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer. She manages parathyroid diseases including primary, secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism and parathyroid cancer in patients of all ages, as well as management of adrenal gland diseases include Cushing’s syndrome, primary hyperaldosteronism, pheochromocytoma and adrenal incidentalomas.
The author of numerous published articles in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Bains is an active member of multiple national organizations dedicated to research and patient care including American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES), American Thyroid Association (ATA), American Head and Neck Society (AHNS), Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), and the American College of Surgery (ACS). She is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization
After earning her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, Dr. Bains completed her surgical training at Saint Barnabas Medical Center (now Rutgers NJMS-Cooperman Barnabas) in Livingston, NJ, which included a year of dedicated surgical and translational science research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She subsequently completed a comprehensive clinical fellowship in endocrine surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York City.

Alexander Itskovich, MD, is a regionally known hepatobiliary and advanced gastrointestinal surgeon. He has been the medical director of the Statesir Cancer Center at Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center since 2021.
Board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and fellowship-trained, Dr. Itskovich specializes in treating diseases of the liver, pancreas, bile duct and gastrointestinal tract. He has extensive experience with highly complex procedures including HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) and performs minimally invasive surgery utilizing the da Vinci Robotic System. Dr. Itskovich has expertise and interest in the surgical management of melanoma.
Actively involved in clinical trials, Dr. Itskovich is a primary investigator for the National Institutes of Health. His research is focused on pancreatic cancer and pancreatic cystic disease. Additionally, he runs a highly innovative pancreatic cancer screening program for people at high risk. In his administrative role, Dr. Itskovich is responsible for the comprehensive delivery of multidisciplinary care at the Atlantic Health Statesir Cancer Center, an American College of Surgeons comprehensive cancer program that offers comprehensive screening programs, immunotherapy, robotic-assisted cancer surgery, video- assisted thoracic surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, ground-breaking clinical trials and Magnet-recognized nursing care.
Dr. Itskovich is a member of the American College of Surgeons and speaks English, Hungarian and Russian. He is part of Atlantic Medical Group and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
Rujuta Saksena, MD, is the Medical Director of Atlantic Medical Group Oncology & Hematology at Freehold and a dynamic, clinically oriented hematologist/oncologist with several years of experience in the treatment of various cancers and blood disorders. She is triple board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her strong medical background, combined with her passion for building meaningful patient-centered relationships, enables her to deliver leading-edge care in a highly personalized manner. She practices comprehensive cancer care, with direct access to the latest clinical trials, and works closely with surgeons, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors, nurses, social workers, and dietitians.
Dr. Saksena attended Lehigh University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in behavioral neuroscience. She earned her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College, part of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and then completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
During her education, Dr. Saksena received a number of honors, awards, and scholarships for her clinical work, leadership roles, and research. She served as chief fellow of hematology/oncology while at Rutgers CINJ, the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. Dr. Saksena also speaks Hindi, Gujarati, and conversational Spanish, and is committed to community outreach through advocacy groups and as a liaison of the American Medical Women’s Association.
Dr. Saksena is a member of Atlantic Medical Group and is a participating provider in the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
