Please see below for a full listing of the scholarships for 2018. Please check each one carefully as the eligibility for each scholarship can be different. Applewood Resident-Sponsored Scholarship: This scholarship’s express purpose is to give all Applewood employees or the children of employees at Applewood the opportunity to further their career goals through education. Please click here for the 2018 application.

CentraState Associated Auxiliary Scholarships: The CentraState Associated Auxiliaries Scholarship Program will offer three (3) scholarships each year to students and adults who live and volunteer in the CentraState service area. Two will be to graduating high school seniors pursuing a career in the health care field. The third scholarship will be awarded to an adult returning to college to pursue a career in the health care field. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $500. Please click here for the 2018 application.

Community Partner Scholarship: This annual scholarship is available through donations from businesses in our local community and we are grateful for their support. It is awarded to any full or part-time deserving employee of CentraState Healthcare System (includes CentraState Medical Center, The Manor, Applewood and Monmouth Crossing), who is furthering his or her education in the healthcare profession or planning to attend a nationally recognized conference or lecture in the specified fields. This is achieved by providing funds to worthy recipients for tuition, purchase of educational materials, conference registration fees, or in other ways that will enhance the continuing education of the recipient and benefit CentraState Healthcare System. The Community Partner Scholarship Fund awards a total of $100.00 to a worthy applicant. Please click here for the 2018 application.

The Robert & Virginia Hoffmeier Oncology Scholarship Fund is an annual scholarship that is awarded to a deserving member or member(s) of the staff that supports the Oncology Unit at CentraState Medical Center who is furthering his or her education or planning to attend a nationally recognized conference or lecture to further their skills. Funds would be provided to worthy recipients for tuition, purchase of educational materials, conference registration fees, or in other ways that will enhance the continuing education of the recipient and benefit CentraState Healthcare System. This scholarship awards a total of $1,000 to be used for educational or professional growth and may be awarded to more than one individual. The scholarship will be paid directly to the educational institution or the CentraState department that incurs the expense on behalf of the staff member.  Please click here for the 2018 application.

Kovats Gerontology and Healthcare Management Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Kovats Gerontology and Healthcare Management Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Ernest Kovats by friends, family and associates of CentraState Healthcare System. The purpose of the Fund is to perpetuate Mr. Kovats’ commitment to CentraState Healthcare System and the continuing need to provide educational and professional growth opportunities to the members of its staff wishing to further their professional education and skills in the areas of gerontology and healthcare management. This scholarship is in the amount of $250.  Please click here for the 2018 application.

The Selma Lopatin Nursing Scholarship Fund. This was created in memory of Mrs. Selma Lopatin, wife of William Lopatin, a long-time member of the Medical Center’s Board of Trustees. It was Mr. Lopatin’s wish to establish this Fund to help continue the quality of care received by Mrs. Lopatin while a patient at CentraState. This annual scholarship is awarded to a deserving active full or part time RN or LPN member of the Nursing Staff at either CentraState Medical Center, Applewood, The Manor, Monmouth Crossing or the Family Medicine Center. Applicants must also have at least one year of service and be furthering his or her education in the field of nursing or planning to attend a nationally recognized conference or lecture in the field of their training. Two scholarships of $500 or one scholarship of $1000 will be awarded at the discretion of the committee.  Please click here for the 2018 application.

Medical Sciences Scholarships:  Only high school seniors enrolled in the Medical Sciences Program at Freehold Regional High School can apply for these scholarships. The following are the scholarships available:

  • 2 x  $2,000 scholarships from the Band Aid Open Committee
  • 1 x $1,000 scholarship from DCH Freehold Toyota
  • 1 x $1000 scholarship from 33 East Car Wash
  • 1 x $500 scholarship from Family Practice of CentraState In Memory of Anthony Franklin.

Anna C. Stewart Smythe Memorial Nursing Scholarship:  The Anna C. Stewart Smythe Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Mrs. Anna C. Stewart Smythe, an Applewood Resident and Registered Nurse in the community. Her daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Duckett wished to establish this Fund to help continue the quality of care received by Mrs. Smythe at Applewood Estates, especially in the Healthcare Unit, as well as pay tribute to her mother’s life work as a Registered Nurse. This annual scholarship is awarded to a deserving member of the Applewood Estates or CentraState Medical Center staff who is furthering his or her education in the field of nursing or allied health such as CMA, CNA, LPN, RN, NP, PT, OT or PTA. Two scholarships of $2500 or one scholarship of $5000 will be awarded at the discretion of the committee. Please click here for the 2018 application.

The Alan Storm Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Alan Storm by Marilyn Tarr, his relatives and many friends.  The purpose of the Fund is to honor the memory of Alan and to show thanks to everyone in the CentraState Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Services for all they had done for Alan.This scholarship provides educational and professional growth opportunities to the members of CentraState staff who support CentraState Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Services. This annual scholarship is awarded to a deserving member or member(s) of the CentraState staff that supports CentraState Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Services who is furthering his or her education in Rehabilitation & or Physical Therapy. Two scholarships of $1000 each will be provided to worthy recipients for tuition, purchase of educational materials, or in other ways that will enhance the continuing education of the recipient and benefit CentraState Healthcare System. Matthew Trancho Memorial Scholarship: The Matthew Trancho Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of employee, Matthew Trancho, by friends, family and associates of CentraState Healthcare System. The purpose of the Fund is to enhance education for the staff of CentraState Healthcare System.This is achieved by providing funds to worthy recipients for tuition, purchase of educational materials, conference registration fees, or other ways that will enhance the continuing education of the recipient and benefit CentraState Healthcare System.
