Health Careers

This committee is charged with developing collaborative partnerships with the area high schools for students who are interested pursuing studies and careers in the healthcare-related fields.
Our 4 year intern-extern program for students in grades nine through 12 enrolled in the Medical Sciences Center of Freehold Regional High School District has been extremely well-received and more that 150 students are currently enrolled for the 2006-07 school year. Students participate in career orientations and lectures, learn side-by-side from staff member mentors about caring for patients, and “shadow” physicians in various hospital settings. This program is so successful, we are implementing a similar intern-externship in the 2006-07 school year for Middletown High School students.

Four scholarships are offered to students participating in this program through the generosity of: The Norkus Foundation, DCH Freehold Toyota, Star & Barry Tobias, and the Band Aid Open Committee.
